South East London illustrator Alice Bowsher describes her distinctive, mostly monochrome work as ‘cute but not too cutesy’. She creates her sweet cast of people and critters using black ink and brushes, and her original approach to character design bears the marks of her artistic heroes Dick Bruna and Tove Jansson.
